Talking Catfish (Acanthodoras spinosissimus)

The Talking Catfish is also known as the Spiny Catfish or Acanthodoras spinosissimus. The Talking Catfish gets his name from a strange croaking noise that it makes from time to time. They are not particularly a great aquarium fish, because like most Catfish they are nocturnal. Half the time you won't even see them unless the lights are off. These fish will also bury themselves under pebbles and can disturb plant life in your tank. The Talking Catfish should be handled with care, their dorsal and pectoral fins are extremely sharp. This freshwater fish grows up to 15cm in length. You can see the Talking Catfish for yourself in the video below...

These guys are cool to have... Until they get big! Mine has grown to over 8 inches! They are supposed to be 31/2 inches! He ate my four awesome Bumblebee Gobies.

I recommend these guys to anybody who doesnt have small fish.

Also they hide ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!

I had one for about 8 years. The only thing it ate was a beta, just chewed the fins off. Well, it might have eaten some ghost shrimp. It was either it or the crawdad. It never touched the tetras. I eventually moved it into a large tank with some goldfish so it could get bigger, but it never got over 6 inches. It is commonly sold as a striped rafael catfish.

Can anyone confirm if they make a croaking sound?
